Read our full story

What began as a response to a real local need has grown into a trusted ear care service for patients across Cleveleys, Blackpool, St Annes and the wider Fylde Coast. Many patients come to Ear Clear Nurse after struggling to find straightforward help, long waits, or appointments that felt rushed and impersonal.

Susie built the service around what patients actually need: a calm appointment, time to ask questions, the safest treatment chosen for each ear, and a friendly nurse who explains everything clearly. The aim has always been to make ear care feel more comfortable, more accessible and much less daunting.

Quick questions

Three common answers first. Open the large FAQ view for the full list.

Do I need wax removal or just a check?

Book wax removal if your ears feel blocked. Choose an ear health check if you are unsure and want advice first.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes. Home visit options are available for patients who find travelling difficult, depending on location and suitability.

Should I use olive oil first?

Where suitable, olive oil drops for 3–5 days may help soften wax. Do not use drops if you have pain, discharge, sudden hearing loss, dizziness or a known perforation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our ear care services.

Ear wax (cerumen) is a natural substance produced by glands in your ear canal. It acts as a protective barrier, trapping dust, debris, and bacteria while also moisturizing the ear canal.

Common signs include hearing difficulties, a feeling of fullness or pressure, ear pain, ringing (tinnitus), dizziness, or persistent itchiness.

Yes, micro-suction is considered the gold standard for ear wax removal. It is safe, gentle, and highly effective, using a small suction device under microscope vision.

Micro-suction uses gentle suction and is suitable for most patients. Irrigation uses controlled warm water and is effective for softer wax blockages.

Most appointments take 15-30 minutes. Home visits typically take 1 hour to allow for travel and setup time.

Ear wax removal is generally comfortable with minimal discomfort. Micro-suction can be slightly noisy but is not painful.

Yes, we offer home visits across the North West including Blackpool, Cleveleys, St Annes and surrounding areas.

Absolutely. Our nurse is fully qualified with specialist training in ear care procedures. We are fully insured and committed to maintaining the highest clinical standards.
